Alex helped me get the weather station restarted and recommended that I write down the steps. Feel free to forward it to anyone else who might need it. Assuming nothing else is wrong with the weather station (i.e. battery, digi X-CTU set up right, USB has not been unplugged, cables connected, sun is shining, etc.), this is the process of restarting the logging of data. 1. You must be logged into kathy's computer under her account 2. Open the C drive 3. The most current weather file should be named "portlog.txt". It is usually at the bottom of the window. 4. Confirm that the file is not updating by either waiting to see if it updates or the last entry is more than five minutes ago. 5. If the portlog.txt file is large (>2 mb), rename it using the last date it received data (ex. "portlog-YYYY-MM-DD.txt") 6. On the desktop, open the program X-CTU. 7. Under the tab "PC Settings", confirm that "Digi PKG-U Serial Port Adapter" has "COM4" written next to it. If it doesn't, I will have to write another list of instructions. 8. Close X-CTU 9. Open Control Panel 10. Open Adminstrative Tools 11. Open Services 12. Right click on ComPort Monitor > Properties 13. At the bottom, where is says "Start Parameters", type "COM4". It is case sensitive so type "COM4" exactly. 14. Under "Service status", click the start button. 15. A small status window should pop up and then close automatically. 16. Click the OK button at the bottom of the ComPort Monitor Properties window. 17. Check in the C drive again. The portlog.txt file should have been updated. Open the after a few minutes to see if it is getting data from the weather station. 18. If it is not working, press the panic button and call someone who knows what to do.
